What is being built around the junction
Each project with its status attached. Where an authority has not announced a date, none is given here.
The Kalyan-Shilphata road is being widened to six lanes and concretised by the MSRDC, and in August 2026 the MSRDC sanctioned Rs 138.45 crore in compensation to affected landowners to clear the land needed for the remaining stretches.
The MMRDA's Airoli to Katai Naka corridor is under construction: the Airoli to Thane-Belapur Road section is complete, the twin-tunnel section towards NH-4 is in its final stages, and the last elevated stretch towards Katai Naka is still being built.
Mumbai Metro Line 12, the Kalyan to Taloja corridor also called the Orange Line extension, is under construction along the Kalyan-Shilphata corridor, where MMRDA had erected its 200th viaduct girder near Golavali by February 2026.
Manpada is a planned station on Mumbai Metro Line 12 at Dombivli East, on the under construction Kalyan to Taloja corridor, and it is not yet open.
Nilje Gaon is a planned station on the under construction Mumbai Metro Line 12 between Dombivli and Taloja, and it is not yet open.
Mumbai Metro Line 5 (Thane to Bhiwandi to Kalyan) is under construction, and MMRDA has said it is targeting the start of services on the first phase, Kapurbawdi to Dhamankar Naka, by December 2026; the Union government approved the revised alignment carrying the corridor on to Kalyan and Ulhasnagar in August 2026.
A further metro extension along the Shilphata corridor, Metro Line 12A from Kalyan Phata to Taloja, was announced by the state Urban Development Minister in February 2026 and remains at the proposal stage, with no construction timeline announced.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train is under construction through Thane district: NHSRCL has completed excavation of the Ghansoli to Shilphata section of its 21 km BKC to Shilphata tunnel, the elevated corridor towards Gujarat begins at Shilphata, and the nearest high speed rail station will be the Thane station now being built in the Diva and Dativali belt, for which no passenger service date has been announced.
The Maharashtra Cabinet approved MUTP-3B in September 2025, which includes a new 69.23 km dedicated suburban rail corridor between Panvel and Vasai via the Diva belt, to be funded equally by the Centre and the state; the corridor is at the approval and planning stage and the existing Vasai to Diva to Panvel line continues to run limited MEMU services in the meantime.
Navi Mumbai International Airport at Ulwe is open and operating: domestic flights began on 25 December 2025 and its first international route, Air India Express to Abu Dhabi, started on 15 July 2026.
The Kalyan Ring Road is being built by the MMRDA in phases, with the stretches between Durgadi bridge and the Titwala side in use, the phases towards Shil Road and Motagaon bridge still in progress, and Rs 600 crore allocated to the project in the MMRDA 2026-27 budget.
The Maharashtra government approved Phase 1 of MSRDC's Virar to Alibaug Multimodal Corridor in May 2026, a 96.41 km access-controlled stretch from Navghar in Vasai to Balavali in Pen that will run through the Bhiwandi and Kalyan belt, and land acquisition and statutory clearances are in progress ahead of the appointment of a concessionaire.
Two things worth knowing when reading a connectivity map for this belt. There is no bullet train station at Shilphata; the nearest high speed rail station will be the Thane station being built in the Diva and Dativali belt. And the Kalyan to Taloja Metro Line 12 alignment runs close to Palava, where the nearest planned stations are Nilje Gaon and Kolegaon, both under construction and not yet open.
